from BARDO

The stars are in our belly; the Milky Way our umbilicus.

Is it a consolation that the stuff of which we’re made

is star-stuff too?

– That wherever you go you can never fully disappear –

dispersal only: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen.

Tree, rain, coal, glow-worm, horse, gnat, rock.

Proper Poetry #5

Today Jinny has stepped up with her woman-of-a-certain-age poem. Dr R W has been cackling away to herself since she first read it. Hard to beat, this one, as a model of a Proper Poem.

A short poem about the menopause

I was hot
and now
I'm not
