And btw Estes is an anthropologist (and I believe zoologist) as well as a Jungian - they're not incompatible! ;-)

Can't remember the song - group I'd never heard of - when I do remember (or have asked M) I'll post it.

All best to you. xrosellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00971482422276765335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055598777203654547.post-21100889179729663062013-11-15T16:14:48.334+00:002013-11-15T16:14:48.334+00:00Hi Roselle,

I can only imagine what it's like to see someone you love suffering from Alzheimer's and then to loose her. The phrase time heals everything is a bit questionable anyway but I think it's way off when it comes to grief. It's been a little over 4 years since I lost my mum and it still sneaks up on me and wipes me out sometimes, like a wave on a steep shore. I'm glad you were able to take care of yourself by heading off to see your friend. He sounds like good support and source of warmth/comfort :-)
I love the Selkie stories. Had never heard of them before last year when the shanty group I joined put together an arrangement of The Ballad of the White Seal Maid (taken from the Lui Collins version on Youtube but with a regular rhythm). It's a beautiful song, and I also fell in love with The Secret of Roan Inish movie (also on YT) despite some clunking acting ;-) What was the song you're friend played?
I hadn't heard of Clarissa Pinkola Estes before reading this blog entry but went off and listened to a couple of audio books, Warming the Stone Child and WWRWTW. Blown...Away....!
Having read next to nothing of Jung's work and being of a scientific bent I'm a little dubious about some of what I've heard but the stories she told and the analogies she drew were very affecting. Both books really resonated with me. Think I might have to source a copy of the printed book :-) Many MANY thanks for mentioning her!
I hope you're able to find and keep the support you need at the moment,
All my best wishes,
NaomiNaomi Watthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10299001040984372390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5055598777203654547.post-77022477232181447312013-11-14T15:28:47.495+00:002013-11-14T15:28:47.495+00:00Jinny - I love the way this happens; the way the c...Jinny - I love the way this happens; the way the cosmos shows us interconnectedness in action. I hadn't looked at this book for years and suddenly it tripped me up as I walked past the shelf. Love and hugs Jinny xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
